Richard Urban

Independent Candidate

Richard Urban is a native of New Jersey, with Polish and Austrian parents.  He was raised by a loving Dad and Mom, and a great Grandma.  He has two older brothers and an older sister.  He did volunteer ministry and sales work before marrying in 1982 and settling in Washington with his wife Stacey.  He has taken an active interest in community affairs since then.

He worked as an award winning District Manager for circulation at the Washington Times Newspaper for five years.  At that time Richard lived in the Brookland area of Washington, DC.  Richard created a Home Service exchange to allow community members to offer services to their neighbors, such as plumbing, drywall or other needed services.  He also visited many churches and began working with pastors to promote community and world peace and strong families.  In 1989 he began to dedicate himself full time to community-based business.  He moved to the Capitol Hill area where he currently resides in 1989.  Richard co-founded the Barney Circle Neighborhood watch association Orange Hat Patrol on Dr. King’s birthday in 1990.  In 1994, Richard and Stacey founded Urban Grocery LLC, a socially responsible home grocery delivery business serving Washington DC and suburbs.  Urban Grocery also is expanding nationally with its grocery delivery software and system.

Richard began giving abstinence-based presentations in local schools in 1997.  Richard and Stacey founded ULTRA Teen Choice in March 2003.  Richard is committed to giving every youth in Washington DC the best chances for success.  That includes helping youth to abstain from sex before marriage, as well as abstain from drugs and alcohol.  Richard wants to see sensible tax and social service policies that that give a full deduction for children and for couples who are married, as compared to just living together without marriage.  A city that has more intact families has less crime and is a better place to live.  Richard is a champion for each youth’s right to choose a lifestyle of sexual abstinence, and to be free to seek the goal of marriage and family that they naturally desire.

Richard is the father of one daughter, who attends the University of the District of Columbia and is studying Early Childhood Education.

Pastor Brown

Chairperson

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Pastor Brown was born to the late Earl Brown and the late Beverly Brown.  He is the youngest of four children.  He attended public schools in Baltimore, and continued his education at the Roxburg College in Boston, Massachusetts, University of the District of Columbia, and the Washington Baptist Seminary.  He is married to Patricia F. Brown, and has three sons, a daughter, three granddaughters and one grandson.

In 1980, Pastor Brown was called to the ministry.   He was ordained and taught by the late Dr. Andrew Fowler of the Washington Baptist College and Seminary in October 1981; and licensed in the District of Columbia in May 1982.  From 1983 to 1995, he served faithfully as Assistant Pastor to the late Pastor Ernest Lewis and to the Christian Love Baptist Church.  He was elected as Pastor in September 1995 and installed in November 1995.  Pastor Brown is a member of the Baptist Missionary Ministers’ Conference of Washington, D.C., & Vicinity and the Stand for Marriage Committee of Washington, D.C.

Pastor Brown feels as Christians we have a responsibility to go beyond just being satisfied with how God has blessed us; with our homes, families, and jobs.  We need to give back a portion (time and tithes) to our church and community.  It is our duty to open the church to those who may not know that God is the Creator and Giver of all good and perfect gifts.

Pastor Brown is a spirit-filled man with a vision, performing wonderful works on a daily basis.  He is well known and respected by his church family, the community, and his colleagues.  He devises programs to support the needy in the community, and provide biblical solutions to support those with social and spiritual problems.  He believes in teaching and preaching the word of God, in season and out of season.  By doing so, he continues to advance the cause of Christ wherever he is.

Kyungmi Nadia Ayad

Special Assisant of Communications

Hi! My name is Kyungmi Nadia Ayad, and I am 18 years young.  I love the excitement of life, and the calm just as much. Though I can’t have too much of either one or the other. Even so, I have the tendency to take up and experiment with new experiences, if I see a bigger purpose or growth in it. Therefore, my interests have quite a diverse array. (Pretty much anything you can name, and anything else I can get my hands on.) So when I heard about Mr. Urban’s ULTRA Teen Choice program, I rushed down to the Washington DC area to give it my all. Subsequently, I heard about his campaign and figured it was another great opportunity! My direct heritage is Mexican and Egyptian and I am very proud of that. I am also a very proud American. I pride myself in being as international as I am. Which works out since, traveling is a huge part of my life. One day would love to be able to pride myself as some one who can say, “I am a good Global Citizen."
